We ended up celebrating Mr.E's birthday a day early because his actual birthday fell on conference weekend. It just made it too complicated to try to do it between sessions, so we had an unofficial/official birthday party on the 30th. The party turned out great. We had tons of family and friends there to support us which was awesome. We're so grateful to be surrounded by people who love us and our son :) The menu: tomato soup with mini grilled cheese, pinwheels, fruit, 3 layer coconut cake, vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, lemon crinkle cookies and lemonade. Let's just say, my friends and I had a very busy baking day. All in all, it turned out to be better than expected. Happy birthday baby boy! We love you very much! Now prepare for a TON of pictures. They're in no order because I'm too exhausted and lazy to organize them. But hopefully you'll get the gist of it.
Happy birthday to my sweet, darling, funny, adorable, smart, naughty (at times), cuddly, baby boy. It's hard to beleive we're already celebrating your first birthday. You have brought so much joy and love into our lives and we so blessed to call you our own. Watching you grow over the year has been an incredible experience. To see all of your little charatistics surface has been so fun. You keep us laughing with your little (big) expressions. You keep us busy with all of your walking, and getting into crap :) You keep us smiling with all of your cuddles you give us. You keep us loving because you're so dang cute and loving back.
Your dad and I feel truely grateful to our Heavenly Father for blessing with us with the sweet little boy that you are. We couldn't have asked for a better son to join our family. We love you more than you will ever understand and know. And although I might be *crazy* with the baby love, and probably will still treat you the same as I do now when you're 16 and too cool for mom, just remember that you were a HUGE mama's boy when you were a baby...And I'll remind you of that...everyday :)
Mr. E HATES them. He's always hated having anything on his feet, but has recently gotten used to socks and soft soled shoes. Well, now that he's starting to walk more, I figured he needs something that will protect his feet a little bit better. I remembered that my sister sent us a pair of shoes that her little boy never got to wear, and quickly got excited to put them on Mr. E's precious little feet. Needless to say, he hated them. He cried immediately. And trying to get him to walk in them, was also a complete failure. He just stood there and froze...and cried. And me being the kind, loving, compassionate mother...pulled out my camera and snapped a few pictures of my overly distraught child :) Daddy to the rescue...taking those "awful" things off his feet. A semi happy camper playing with my pink straw. And that concludes the story of Mr.E's first pair of real, big boy shoes.
Not too eventful over here. Hubby gave me the sweetest card and a box of Charleston Chews (one of my favorites). And even Mr.E participated, he "got" me a card and handed it to me. It was too sweet. I baked sugar cookies, find the recipe here, at cookeatandbemerry.blogspot.com, cut out a billion hearts to scatter around, and made him a little card from me and Mr.E. And in case you haven't tried this before, making sugar cookies, cutting out hearts and trying to make everything look presentable with a baby, is pretty much impossible. Something that should have taken 2 hours max took 5 hours. Here's just a few photos of our day
Sugar cookies in the process Bowl of heart cut-outs And my little "helper." He's a bit blurry because he will not hold still. And I've just got to do a product shout out. This stuff is awesome. It's organic evaporate cane juice, a replacement for white refined sugar. It's the same texture, just a tiny bit darker in color, but sweetens the same. I baked with it and you'd never be able to tell the difference. I'm pretty sure you can buy it at any grocery store in the sugar isle, but it can be a bit pricey for a small bag. I bought my 10LB bag at Costco for just under $20. If your Costco has it, I recommend you purchase it and switch over. Anyways, that's my little tidbit for the day. Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day. Oh and one last thing, my little guy is starting to walk! What? Didn't he just learn to crawl like 3 weeks ago? Why yes, he did. Little stinker just has to one up himself.
Please ignore my crazy, laugh at the end. I sound like a fool!
